Hi everyone, this was originlly posted by Werner over at SimHq. He lost his old account and could not sign up for a new one so he asked me to post this over here. Well here it is
My old FSIC account is adrift (as in, it remembers my email address and moderator status, but neither my user name nor my password) and a new one I tried to create since people started posting has had the same happen, minus the moderator status.
My bags are packed.
Anyways, even though this is the last thing on my mind right now because of some real life stuff, I want to get some feedback from you about when it would be best to host online event(s) this holiday season specifically between 21 December and 6 January.
Just a few notes about the event for people who had a rough ride last time - the 'event standard' will be the same as current OLS (including Jeeves' loads) plus groundpack plus a few of Harman's ground objects. Hopefully this way we will be able to get going faster since people can, on their own time, load up and check what they're flying with against the regulars online. I will try to have a scheduled "get online and make sure everything is in order" night, but no promises.
Another note, for those leery of possible "media bloat" with the ground pack, it does come with an uninstaller. I hope, though, that by the time the event is done you would be more inclined to keep it installed, but that's your choice, naturally. Also, for those who weren't so into the ground-ground only missions, this time around I'm going to have a mix including one aircraft-only mission for those who are having compatability troubles or who didn't install the ground pack. None of this is an attempt to undermine Harman's work, in fact its an attempt to appeal to a broader audience in the interest of catering to the whole community. I am a big GP fan but I realize not all are.
So anyways, that last bit was to convince everyone remotely interested in WWII online events to reply to this thread, even if you weren't involved last time. The more feedback I get now, the better it'll be in the long run. Stuff like "The 28th is bad, I have family over" or "Fridays and Saturdays are bad" or "Sunday evenings [timezone] are good" all helps. I'll do my best to accomodate everyone but it might not happen.
Another plan tidbit for you... Instead of two frames, I'm planning to run the Bavaria campaign (6 missions) starting in the morning my time and running until its over. If I get the time to write up a BoF campaign I'll try and run it in the evening for those of you far, far away.
Ok guys, let'er rip.
Werner
